Guys,
I've started using tumblr, and I can't stop. I use a different swatch
format there that I really like, but the only blog I run is a personal
blog, so it's a lot of other crap that isn't beauty-related. If you're
on tumblr and you'd like to follow me, my username is urby87. If you're
not on tumblr, you can certainly still read the blog if you'd like, but
you won't be able to comment or reblog or any of the fun stuff that
comes with being on tumblr. I've been thinking about making a new
beauty blog on tumblr and/or transferring this one over there. I've
been so MIA lately, and I do apologize for that, but I have been
bouncing around with a ton of things lately and haven't had the
motivation/money to put out lengthy reviews every week. Would any of
you object to me simply transferring the blog to tumblr? Are there some
of you out there who would really prefer me to keep posting here
whenever I can, even if it's very sporadic? Let me know if you really want to keep seeing updates here, otherwise I may just start a new beauty tumblr and you all can follow me there should you choose. Swatch dump after the cut!
Jaffa by Butter London is a very pretty coral color. It looks very bright and orangey in this picture because it was taken in sunlight. It definitely leans more pink in person. I attempted to do a glitter ombre here with Shine On Crazy Diamond by Orly, but I'm not sure that it comes across very well. The consistency is thin, and it is definitely not opaque in one coat, but it dries quickly and applies evenly. Please excuse the hangnails and scratch!
The Bends by SUPER BLACK Lacquers is a really cool jelly-based blue polish with lots of hex glitters of various sizes and colors. As far as I can tell, there are two medium-sized blues (one periwinkle, and one more sky blue,) large white ones, and tiny black ones. This picture is very true to color, and I really love the way the jelly base makes the glitters look like bubbles rising to the surface of the ocean. Seriously, guys, this is an amazing polish.
Another SUPER BLACK Lacquers color, Sweet Tooth! This one has way too many glitters for my eyes to pick out, but the definitely include different sizes and a whole rainbow of colors in a purple jelly base. The color is slightly more pink in person, but the photo is otherwise accurate. Both of the SBLs I have are thin and fast-drying, and I don't really have any issues with having to "fish" for certain colors or sizes of glitter.
This is my first Zoya polish, and I really like it. It’s textured, but
not overwhelmingly gritty to the point where it gets caught on things
and drives you crazy; it feels like a very fine-grit sandpaper. You can certainly wear it with a topcoat if you don't care for the finish. I love
the color; it's a lovely tangerine with sparkly flecks of orange and gold. It looks a bit darker here, partly due to interior light and
partly because this is over two coats of Jaffa by Butter London to aid
in opacity. It's definitely very thin (as you can see in the bottle,) and I've never actually worn it by itself.
Have you tried any of these colors? What do you think?
Thank you all for reading and putting up with me being gone so much! It's just such a time-intensive thing, and my schedules have been strange, and a culmination of several other things... I'm going to try really hard to get back to a somewhat regular schedule, be it here or tumblr or both.
