Random Look!

I've been saying I was going to put this up for awhile now, so let's get to it!  I bought a new shirt recently, and decided to wear it to a craft show on my birthday.  It's burnt orange, and I wanted to pull everything together with my makeup, so I did a fiery look and I think it turned out great.

The whole look... Yes, I normally wear glasses.

The eyes...  I started with Bouffant from Linnaeus Cosmetics as a highlighter on the inner corners and under my brows, followed by Feathery from Bokeh Face Cosmetics on the lids, then finished with applied Lanky from Linnaeus Cosmetics in the crease.  I love the way the orange intensified the green in my eyes.

The lips... I applied lip balm first (Gap stores usually have SPF 18 lip balms in a variety of scents, but they don't appear to be available online) then layered on a tiny bit of Palladio's herbal lipstick in Toasted Orange.  I love an orange lippie, but I've found it really hard to find another one I like this well.

Random Look!

This is a similar look to yesterday, but with more blending and different colors.  All of the colors are from Scaredy Cat Cosmetics, with the exception of Lumpy Space Princess (which comes from Bokeh Face Cosmetics.)  I started by priming with Shadow Poxy from My Beauty Addiction, then used Metamorphosis as a highlighter on the inner corners of my eyes and under my brows.  Next, I applied Lumpy Space Princess to my eyelids and Mythic in my crease.  I used Insomnia above my crease and on the outer half of my lower lashline.  I lined with Mythic.  I can't seem to take a decent picture from the front that doesn't look catty; I guess it's the shape of my face that does it because it doesn't look is like that in real life... *sigh*

Anyway, here it is.

Bonus Post: Bokeh Face Swatch-apalooza, Part 2!

I'm so sorry I didn't post this when I said I would!  I run a business and work a PT job, so sometimes things can get a little overwhelming.  But here it is, without further ado, Pat Two of the Bokeh Face Cosmetics Swatch-apalooza!

Todays's swatches are done in two rows.  The top is bare skin with a foiled stripe in the center (with the exception of Hurricane, whose stripe is way off) and the bottom is primed with Shadow Poxy from My Beauty Addiction.  I think this will be my standard swatching method moving forward, because I like the way it shows the contrast between primed and unprimed.  For fun and to make up for not posting this when I should have, I did two pictures of each set without flash at different angles, one with flash, and one showing the shadows after running them under water.

Left to right: 201 Prince, 202 Sand Castle, 203 Bird King, 204 Indigo, and 205 Grenade

Left to right: 301 Flippie Floppies, 302 Seaweed, 303 Octopus, and 309 Hurricane

Left to Right: 501 Emo Kid, 502 Portland, and 504 Ginger

No review today.  Instead, I've decided to swatch a bunch of Bokeh Face Cosmetics colors.  Hope you don't mind!  I have unfortunately lost some of my colors, but in this post I've swatched 18 colors for your viewing pleasure.  I'll do another post tonight to finish this up, but my bathroom was invaded about halfway through.

Bottom row, left to right: 006 Swiss Vanilla, 007 Metallic Khaki, 401 French Vanilla

These swatches were done on bare skin with a foiled stripe down the center.  No primer today.  There are definitely some great colors in the Bokeh Face collection, and they all apply and wear well.   A good variety of sparkly colors and more subtle shimmer.  Lumpy Space Princess doesn't look nearly as awesome  in the pictures as it does in person; it has kind of an iridescent gold-ish shimmer to it, and it foils an excellent pale pink.  And I don't normally care for pinks...  I definitely suggest you check out Bokeh Face if you haven't already!

New Stuff!

Yesterday I ordered samples from Scaredy Cat Cosmetics and a full-size trio from Linnaeus Cosmetics, so look to see a Scaredy Cat review and more Linnaeus swatches soon.  If I get the Scaredy Cat samples before the end of the week, I'll do that review, and if I don't I'll be doing a swatch-mania for Bokeh Face!

Bokeh Face Cosmetics Swatches + Review

My Order: The Mineral Eyeshadow Sample Mega Pack

Customer service: I had spoken to Natalie regarding my blog before placing my order, a practice I will discontinue to avoid favoritism from this point forward, and the interaction was quite pleasant.  I became a facebook fan and made a comment on one of her posts, to which she also politely responded.

Packaging: My items were mailed in a bubble mailer.  It did not include an invoice, but it did include a handwritten note and several business cards.  Inside of a lime green paper bag, there were plastic baggies of all of the Bokeh Face eyeshadows, each labeled with color names.  It took eight business days to receive my order.

Today's Swatches

Left to right: Flippie Floppies, Grass, and Seaweed

Flash

These swatches were done on bare skin.  Flippie Floppies was nearly-matte, while Grass and  Seaweed had a lovely, but not overpowering shimmer.  These swatches were applied using an eyeshadow brush, with a foiled stripe down the center applied with water and an angled liner brush.  There are no swatches on the Etsy listings, so there is nothing to compare to, but these colors are quite saturated.  A little goes a long way with these shadows, and I was pleasantly surprised with the application.  When I ran the swatches under water I noticed that the colors hold up against water fairly well; I had to use soap to get them completely washed off.  When applying the shadow on my eyelid, it started to crease fairly quickly without a primer.  Other than that, gorgeous, saturated colors that go on smoothly and layer well.

I lined my lashline with Flippie Floppies, applied Seaweed to the lid, and added a touch of grass to the outer corner.

Overall: Communication was friendly and timely.  Delivery was fairly quick; it  wasn't the speediest, but I never wondered what had happened to it, either.  Packaging was wonderful, and I will be handing out the cards to anybody who asks about the shadows.  These colors were stunning.  They were smooth and layer well, even without a primer.  A primer would make them even more intense, and undoubtedly help with the creasing issue if you're going for a more dramatic, put-together look.  I put mine together in just a few minutes to snag a picture.  I would love to see swatches of some sort pop up in the Etsy listings, but the photos provided are definitely adequate.  Awesome products.  I look forward to seeing new items in the future, and would definitely recommend the shadows.
